Museum<\/a>.\u00a0 Seems appropriate.\u00a0 Below are a few scenes from Andy Warhol: The Last Decade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Disclaimer: It&#8217;s a poor artist who blames her tools, but my camera is old and outdated even by digital point and shoot standards.\u00a0 Still, the photos do absolutely NO justice to the originals, all of which were so beautiful.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re in Brooklyn, go and see for yourself.\u00a0 The exhibit runs through September 12th.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a left;\">The piece above was my favorite\u00a0 in the exhibit.\u00a0 It&#8217;s called Oxidation Painting [in 12 parts], made in 1978.\u00a0 Believe it or not,\u00a0 the materials are acrylic paint and urine on linen.\u00a0 I love the metallic greens and golds and the textures.\u00a0 These were among the first abstract paintings that Warhol did.\u00a0 From the description of the painting:\u00a0 &#8220;By urinating on the canvas he succeeded in creating the &#8216;physical presence&#8217; to which he aspired in the act of painting, and simultaneously parodied the act of painting.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 Statements like these\u00a0 made Warhol so beloved and make him so sorely missed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The exhibit also includes Warhol&#8217;s films, a television series, and a wall full of covers of Interview magazine in addition to many more paintings, including his religious paintings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a left;\">I&#8217;ve had a soft spot for <a title=\"Josef and Anni Albers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.albersfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Josef and Anni Albers<\/a> ever since I saw an exhibit of their work at the <a title=\"Cooper Hewitt Museum\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhewitt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cooper Hewitt<\/a> ages ago.\u00a0\u00a0 These pieces are called Homage to the\u00a0 Square; they are from 1957.\u00a0 I worked in an architect&#8217;s office in the early 1980s where we would turn out page after page of parodies of this type of work.\u00a0 But I don&#8217;t love it any less.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irasperipheralvisions.com\/WetPaint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/P8290035_vessel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-337\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"P8290035_vessel\" src=\"http:\/\/www.irasperipheralvisions.com\/WetPaint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/P8290035_vessel.jpg\" alt=\"vessel\" width=\"432\" height=\"490\" left;\">I fell in love with this little vessel by ceramicist <a title=\"Rick Dillingham\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adobegallery.com\/artist.php?artist_id=252\" target=\"_blank\">Rick Dillingham<\/a>, whom I&#8217;d never heard of before.\u00a0\u00a0 On the plaque beneath this piece, I read that the artist was a contemporary of mine who&#8217;d already passed away, which broke my heart right on the spot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irasperipheralvisions.com\/WetPaint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/P8290043_native_vessel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-339\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"P8290043_native_vessel\" style=\"text-align: left;\">My only complaint about my visit to the museum was that First Nations artists from the so-called &#8220;Americas&#8221; were barely represented.\u00a0 It could be that I just didn&#8217;t know where to look for them and didn&#8217;t have the time to visit the entire museum.\u00a0 But amongst one of the American painting collections I found a room which had a few pieces made by Native artists, like the piece above.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooklynmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/dinner_party\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">The Dinner Party<\/a> is one of the most stunning works of art I&#8217;ve ever seen.\u00a0 The degree of detail is amazing.\u00a0 This is just one little detail that appeared on one of the runners for one of the place settings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a
