Frank Yandolino, a native New Yorker, was a writer, producer, and manager of various artists, musicians, and personalities since the 1960s. He got his start booking bands for the original Woodstock festival and later owned his own record company, The Label Records. He wrote two Broadway shows and co-produced some of the corresponding music. A graduate of Parsons and NYU, he also worked as a graphic artist and photographer. He died in his home in Manhattan in 2014.
Charli Yandolino lives in New York City. She raised a family and shared a life with Frank Yandolino. Skyhorse Publishing has just released FRANK & CHARLI, a book about their lives together.
As the social and political upheaval of the 1960s was being felt across America, the younger generation was disregarding old beliefs and fears. New ideas were being brought to life everywhere we looked. When I remember our younger days as part of 1960’s pop culture and the Woodstock generation, it’s always the word freedom that comes to mind. The possibilities seemed to be unlimited. This was especially true in the arts and music, where Frank worked with the greats, and made many contributions, in the forefront and behind the scenes.
I remember the spirit of love that filled the air during those days. Frank and I shared a wonderful love story, but we were also surrounded by a bigger, wider, natural movement that was all about love among all living things. That love became a force that touched the world and changed it for awhile. I was a young girl at the time and I didn’t realize what was happening, but I remember Frank saying, “Take a chance.” I did, and it brought me many amazing experiences.
This book was written, not only as a vehicle for us to share our memories, but also to inspire the reader by reminding them of a time when it felt as if anything was possible. I was lucky because I got to share it with a very special guy. Frank and I enjoyed so many once in a lifetime experiences, that left us with all these great stories that we have been telling through the years. I used to tell Frank that it was a good thing that I’m here to confirm that these things really did happen. I also hope that this book will inspire readers to overcome their own personal obstacles and follow their dreams — despite Frank’s lifelong struggle with dyslexia, he managed to write plays and this book.
I’m grateful to Skyhorse Publishing for bringing FRANK & CHARLI to the public. I know that it would make Frank smile, and that makes me smile too.
I do not know what the future holds for me. But like Frank did, I will be sure to fully experience whatever comes my way.
You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can’t you see
You’re everything I hope for
You’re everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can’t you see
You’re everything I hope for
You’re every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
